International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is held annually on June 21st, people from all walks of life unite to celebrate this special day that recognizes the many health benefits of yoga. This year's theme is “Humanity”. We explore how yoga can promote the values of empathy, inclusivity, and harmony, inspiring individuals to embrace their shared humanity.

This year Island Power Yoga and lululemon have teamed up together to create an ALL LEVELS, inclusive Community Class at The Shops at Wailea. We share the vision that we can all connect and be more mindful through the power of conscious movement and wellness. When we can show ourselves more compassion, patience and self care it allows our empathy and bandwidth to be compassionate and patient with others.

On International Yoga Day,  we will move through a one hour Vinyasa Flow, led by lululemon Ambassador and Island Power Yoga Founder, Chieko Garland. lululemon will host a social and refreshment afterwards with the intention to foster more relationships, community and to celebrate together.

ALL AGES - ALL LEVELS - COMPLIMENTARY

Through yoga, we become more attuned to the needs and experiences of those around us, breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of shared humanity. Yoga also brings attention to our commonalities and the powerful healing that comes with intentional breath (pranayama) and physical movement (asana), mindfulness (meditation). We can create a brighter and more inclusive future, where understanding, love, and respect for one another are pillars in our interaction and society through the practice and intentional sharing of yoga.

If you are looking for ways to celebrate this year on International Yoga Day, here are a few accessible ideas.

  1. Host a yoga session with friends or go to a class together and have community afterwards.

  2. Take time to meditate on the ideas of compassion, inclusivity, patience and love.

  3. Reflect on what your practice has provided for you and acknowledge the wellness you can feel.

  4. Invite someone you know, who could use yoga to a class with you.

  5. Choose to be more compassionate with yourself and let that overflow towards others.
